Ashlie Kègo's mission is to use her art as a powerful tool to raise awareness about the underserved community affected by Sickle Cell disease. Through her impactful creations, she aims to shed light on the struggles, challenges, and triumphs of those living with Sickle Cell, fostering understanding, empathy, and support for this often overlooked community. Her art serves as a platform for advocacy, education, and empowerment, striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals affected by this condition.
Her creative practices reflect a diverse and impactful blend. In her art, she uses her Nigerian cultural elements to inspire visual language, while her role as a teacher influences the educational aspects within her creative work. As a sickle cell advocate, Ashlie’s art serves as a powerful medium to raise awareness, conveying the experiences and challenges faced by individuals affected by the disease. Her creative expressions become a means to educate and engage audiences, fostering understanding and support for the cause. Through this convergence of roles, her art becomes a dynamic vehicle for cultural expression, education, and advocacy, contributing to a broader dialogue surrounding sickle cell awareness.
